The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa is one of the few places feel quite as effortlessly special in Bath on a bright summer wedding day. With its honey-stone architecture, sweeping Georgian streets and that unmistakable sense of occasion, it was the perfect setting for Alice and Andy’s elegant celebration.

After becoming newly married, they arrived at the hotel in full celebration mode: confetti in the sunshine, a beautiful bouquet of soft peach, pink, lavender and blue blooms, and the happiest welcome from their guests. The Royal Crescent’s iconic façade created the most timeless backdrop for portraits — classic, romantic and completely Bath.

A Joyful Summer Wedding at The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa

Alice and Andy brought such a relaxed energy to their day. There was nothing overly formal about it; just brilliant people, beautiful details and the feeling that everyone was exactly where they wanted to be.

The bride wore a timeless satin gown with a full skirt and long train, paired with a softly gathered veil and an abundant garden-style bouquet. The groom wore a classic black tuxedo, which felt perfectly at home against the elegant Georgian interiors and pale Bath stone outside.

Before heading out to greet their guests, we took a few quiet moments on the hotel’s beautiful staircase. These in-between moments are always some of my favourites — the chance to breathe, take it all in and enjoy that first little pocket of calm together.

Cocktails, Croquet and Champagne in the Garden

The summer sunshine meant the celebration spilled naturally outdoors. Guests gathered in the garden for cocktails, chilled champagne and lawn games, with croquet adding such a lovely, playful touch to the afternoon.

Live string musicians played beneath the trees while guests chatted, drank and enjoyed the warmth of the day. It felt refined without ever feeling stiff — the kind of drinks reception where there is genuinely no need to rush anyone indoors.

There were elegant floral arrangements on the tables, spritzes in hand and that wonderful hum of guests catching up after the ceremony. A wedding day does not need a packed schedule to feel memorable; giving people space to enjoy one another is often where the magic happens.

Georgian Bath Portraits

One of the real joys of a Royal Crescent Hotel wedding is being able to step straight outside into one of Bath’s most recognisable settings. I took Alice and Andy for a short walk along the crescent for portraits, making the most of the grand columns, warm limestone and beautiful symmetry of the architecture.

Their photographs feel classic but still full of life — the bride’s train sweeping across the pavement, the two of them laughing together in the doorway, and those just-married smiles that cannot be planned or recreated.

The Royal Crescent works so beautifully for couples who love a setting with real character: historic, elegant and unmistakably British, but with the atmosphere of a private house celebration.

An Elegant, Relaxed Celebration in Bath

As guests gathered inside for the wedding breakfast, Alice and Andy made their entrance to huge cheers and applause. It was the perfect end to a sun-soaked afternoon — joyful, stylish and completely true to them.
