Goodwood House Wedding: Amelia & Ashley’s Perfect Summer CelebrationIf you’re dreaming of a wedding that blends timeless English elegance, warm summer sunshine, and a touch of historical grandeur, a Goodwood House Wedding might be exactly what you’ve been searching for. Situated in the heart of West Sussex, Goodwood House offers an unparalleled setting that captured Amelia & Ashley Headon’s hearts the moment they laid eyes on it. In August 2022, they turned that dream into reality with a stunning celebration that continues to inspire couples planning their own Goodwood House wedding.

One of the most important choices for any couple is selecting the perfect venue. For Amelia and Ashley, Goodwood House was an easy decision—almost as though it was meant to be. They had attended the Goodwood Horse Racing events every summer since 2016, each time driving past the stately charm of Goodwood House. After Ashley proposed in Paris, the couple visited the venue’s Wedding Fayre and immediately knew it was “the one.” Its magnificent architecture, rich history, and picturesque grounds made it impossible to imagine celebrating their marriage anywhere else.
“We instantly had our heart set on Goodwood and knew we had found our venue,” Amelia recalls.
“All we needed to do was secure a date!”

To keep the day intimate, Amelia and Ashley invited 50 close friends and family members to their Goodwood House wedding. This smaller group allowed them to spend meaningful time with each attendee. Later in the evening, 60 more guests arrived, ensuring that everyone they cared about could share in their joy.
Bridesmaids: Amelia chose six of her best friends to stand by her side, bringing a lively energy and endless support.
Groomsmen: Ashley had four groomsmen, each playing a key role in keeping the day fun and organized.

Amelia’s wedding morning was filled with laughter, music, and a dash of champagne. She and her bridesmaids donned personalized robes and slippers while getting their hair and makeup done, setting a relaxed yet celebratory tone. The soundtrack of the morning? “Chapel of Love,” a nostalgic nod to Amelia’s hen do.
“I didn’t feel nervous at all,” Amelia says. “I was completely relaxed and so excited for the day ahead.”

Amelia’s quest for the perfect gown led her to nearly 10 bridal shops before she discovered “the one” in London. The dress featured sparkle, intricate detail, and a dramatic train, fulfilling every aspect of her fairy-tale vision. She adored it so much that she’s already planning to wear it again on their first anniversary.
“It made me feel like a princess ready to see my knight in shining armour,” Amelia says. “It was everything I had dreamed of and more.”
Arriving in a classic 1957 Rolls Royce Silver Cloud, Amelia was the picture of bridal elegance. A String Trio played Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams”—a piece inspired by the romantic flair of Bridgerton—creating a dreamy ambiance. The summer sunshine streamed into the ceremony space, making Ashley wipe his brow in the middle of the vows, much to everyone’s delight.
“Saying ‘I do’ and walking back down the aisle as husband and wife will stay with me forever,” Amelia recalls.
After the ceremony, the celebration moved outside to the stately grounds of Goodwood House. The Adelaide Trio continued performing gentle, tranquil music as guests enjoyed canapés and the stunning gardens. Later, everyone headed indoors for the Wedding Breakfast, speeches, and an evening reception that brought the house to life.
Table Names: Instead of traditional numbers, each table was named after places the couple had visited—Prague, New York, Barcelona, and, of course, Paris for the top table.
Music: The evening band, Night Shift, kept guests on their feet with live renditions of classic hits.
First Dance: Amelia and Ashley chose “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Haley Reinhart—an enchanting twist on the Elvis Presley original.
