Today I’m so excited to share this elegant military church wedding in South Wales. Emma and Matthew’s day was the perfect blend of tradition, romance and heartfelt celebration — a wedding filled with meaningful moments and timeless style.
Set in a charming village church surrounded by rolling countryside, their ceremony felt both intimate and grand. Friends and family gathered beneath the stone arches as sunlight poured through the church windows, creating the most beautiful atmosphere for their vows.

The morning began with the quiet ritual of preparation. Matthew dressed in his military uniform, carefully fastening his medals and gloves with the help of his closest friends. There’s something incredibly powerful about these moments — the pride, the history, the sense of occasion. The structure of military tradition contrasts so beautifully with the emotion of a wedding morning.
Meanwhile, Emma looked radiant in her romantic lace gown, with delicate sleeves and soft flowing layers that moved effortlessly in the summer breeze. Her bouquet of warm-toned florals added a subtle autumnal richness, complementing the countryside setting perfectly.

No military wedding would be complete without a Guard of Honour. As the ceremony concluded, the little pathway leading to the church gate became the perfect setting for this iconic tradition. Swords were raised in salute as Emma and Matthew walked through the arch, surrounded by cheers, laughter and a shower of confetti from waiting guests and villagers.
It was one of the hottest days of the year, the kind of golden summer day that feels almost cinematic. Guests gathered in the apple orchard opposite the church grounds, enjoying canapés and cocktails beneath the trees while the newlyweds embraced the moment.

After the reception drinks, we took a gentle stroll across the village green for portraits. The church stood quietly behind them, basking in the afternoon light, creating the most timeless backdrop. These relaxed moments away from the crowd allowed Emma and Matthew to pause, breathe and simply be together — something I always encourage my couples to do.

Continuing the military tradition, the wedding cake was cut with a ceremonial sword — a moment that brought smiles all around. As the sun began to set, the formalities gave way to an energetic evening of dancing, laughter and celebration.
From start to finish, this South Wales military church wedding was a beautiful reminder of why I love photographing weddings that blend heritage and heart. Structured yet joyful. Traditional yet deeply personal.
Enjoy.
